WHAT?!

Posted in Gibberish on September 26, 2008 by Shannon

There’s a Hamilton Road in Singapore?! That’s unfair advantage!

Anyway, there’s some action going on at the track now but they are not F1 cars, more like A1 cars or F3 cars.

When asked, most fans would tell you they go to see the races live because of the ROARRR from the engines. But what I’m hearing now is like buzzing of bees which is going to give me a headache soon.

F1… Sighs…

It’s quite exciting for all of us that the Singapore Grand Prix is finally round the… erm… chicane (should use some F1 talk to fit into the excitement right?), but it’s inconveniencing quite a number of us.

For the next four days, I would have to walk all the way from City Hall to Millenia Walk. That would take about 10 minutes of walking, as compared to crossing the road and reaching my destination.

And taxi companies are charging an extra $5 for anyone that hail a cab in that area?!

So they are gonna penalise locals to bring in the tourists???

Damn.

Mamma mia, here I go again… My my, how can I resist you?

How’s work? – Part 4

Clearly, I need to come up with a more eye-catching title. But who cares? Let’s go on to what I want to tell you…

I had a 3.5 hours lunch break today! Can you freaaaaking believe it?! Heng my supervisor allows it. I asked her for an extended lunch break and she agreed so readily. Had wanted to tell her I’d be back 2pm tops, but luckily I left the “extended lunch break” undefined cos I left office at 11 30am and returned at 3pm.

So had lunch with Ms Koh, the OCBC, BoC and Mysis peeps at this HOKKIEN restaurant on the fifth floor of OCBC Centre.

If you ever have time to sit down and talk with Ms Koh, she’ll awe you with her knowledge and make you know that there’s so much more in the world that awaits you. Had lots of laughter as usual. And ZS is such a big eater.

She also shared some insights about the IEF paper, her view of us and how we would do in life (Didn’t know that I had what she said about in me. Time for more self-discovery and self-awareness).

I’m so thankful to have been taught by her (and also partly because of the Batam trip and the 7-course lunch today! Haha!)

As mentioned, I reached back at the office at about 3pm and I found 2 boxes of fruits on my table: 1 pear and 1 kiwi in each. This is part of the wellness program of the company for employees. Cool huh. (And check out the 32″ Full HD TV my boss is using as monitor in the background. He has two of them side-by-side!)

Mooncake day!

Had great fun yesterday!

It’s the second time in my life I’m skating. And also the second time skating with the usuals. Had a bad fall this time and scraped my left elbow. My flesh looks so fresh at that time.

It’s also nice to feel the breeze in your hair while you skate, but that is quite short-lived cos I’ll have to stumble once in a while to regain my balance.  =(

Shannon you noob shit, still need hand guards and knee guards which are hidden.

Skated for two hours (or slide along as Gene puts it) and had a tiring walk to Carl’s Jr where Aaron joined us!

And I think we are one damn traditional group of friends. Reunion lunch and visiting on CNY, and now playing candles and lanterns on Mid-autumn.

So it was lanterns and candles time by the beach!

144 candles and 12 lanterns for only $4.90. So there were 12 lanterns at first, but when the wind came, one by one caught fire and we were left with 4 in the end. It’s good that we were by the beach which had lots of sand to put out the fire.

I’ve also found out that wax coated with sand feels like pebbles.

We exited from the wrong underpass and that was the time where Junhao, Huang and Aaron became crazy little kids, and where Alethea was complaining from the walking she gets each time she goes out with us (Reunion lunch, picnic day, from J8 to the other end of Bishan Park on leap day).

Reached the bus stop at about 12 15 and there was no more buses so we took cab home.  -,-

And that was my day out with the usuals whom I love so much.

Anyway, does anyone know who to call when the light in the common corridor breaks down?

Residents’ committee? Community centre? Town council?

It’s fine if it doesn’t light up at all. But no, it flickers! So please please, if anyone knows please tell me.

And results are out tomorrow. Back to reality again, sighs.

How’s work? – Part 3

It starts to feel better when you get more responsibilities and they trust you with more stuff. I also get to interact with more people this way.

It also means more work for me. I’m starting to miss the ‘interaction’ with the PS3 already. They have also installed the internal IM client for me today. Yet another avenue to pass on more work to me.  :(

But the buffet lunch at Marina Mandarin was the ultimate yesterday. Sashimi madness! Whoo!

No pictorial updates cos all the work I do in the office is pretty confidential.
